2016 Tax Notices Sent Out

viking sign

The tax notices for 2016 have been sent out June 30th.

The Town of Viking property tax rates stayed equal to last year’s tax rates for both residential and non-residential properties.

If your property tax is higher than last year, the assessment on your property may have increased.
You may appeal your assessment; however before appealing ask yourself this question…
“If I were to sell my house today would I be able to sell it for the assessed value?”
If YES – there are no grounds for appeal
If NO – then pick up the appropriate form at the Town Office, complete and return it (with the fee) showing why you feel your property was assessed too high.

The appeal must be received at the Town Office by August 31, 2016. If people have question and concerns about their taxes they can contact the Town Office (780) 336-3466.
